I've decided to run for president of The United States of America.
Officially, one must be of the age 35 to run for such a position, so I'll
starting early on my 2012 campaign. The people I've brought up this idea
to have said one of two things which I will address.
1) "Pete, why do you want to be president?"
I don't like the way this country is going. I see many ways that
my ideas could help things. What we've been missing in the past
few decades is a president we could believe in, a president that
makes us feel good about living in our country. If it's not
beed done by 2012, I'm going to be that president.
2) "Pete, you're too honest to be president"
This actually hurts me. Not so much that people think I can't
be dishonest, but that they believe it's prerequisite for
cadidacy. Presidents are people too, just because they are the
representative for our entire nation does not mean that they
are not governed by the same rules as the rest of us. That being
the case, presidents are allowed to watch a hockey game on
friday nights, allowed to have a drink and allowed to have faults.
Along with this privelidge is the fact that they don't get special
treatment when it comes to the law. If I'm cruizing in the
presidential limo and I don't signal a turn, I expect to get a
ticket for that behavior. It is said there is no honor among
thieves, lets not elect any more theives.
Over the next few years I will be elaborating on my policies and
thoughts about how a country should be run. I'll be explaining my
platform and illustrating my points. Please be a part of the magic
that puts people back in control on the government: Vote Cowan in 2012.
