Introspections

Over the years I've written short stories, editorials, bizzare texts and always wanted a forum just so poeple could read them if they wanted. If you have any comments or responses, I'd be grateful. Oh, and unless otherwise noted, all the work here is my own. petecowan@hotmail.com

    Original Works

  • BrownEyedGirl - Feb 24th, '05 - This is an email I wrote to a friend a couple years ago. I'm not sure it belongs here but it sorta seemed to match a lot of the stuff here and I like re-reading it. Plus it makes it look like I update this page regularly.
  • Over - Dec 10th, '02 - In a fit of sleeplessness at 1:30am I got inspired. Two hours later I had this written. I think this is my most favorite of everything I've ever written.
  • TheDate - This is from sometime back in '01 I think. It was fun and cute but for some reason never released.
  • The Serf and The Rabbit - Jul 15 '99 - My first and only fairy tale. I had a friend that was pouring over how hard it was to write one for a class so I decided to give it a try. It's not very hard, but probably hard to write a good one.
  • bridge.txt - Jan 24 '99 - A cute little intospection I put down in a rare moment of inspiration intoxication.
  • Truth - Jan 25th '99 - I know I said I'd never write poetry, however, this one just kinda flowed out and I was pretty happy about it. I guess I was full of rage and emotion in my 20's as well.
  • Last Night - Jan 25th '99 - "I feel if I write anymore I'll make it all mean less. It used to be cool and rare when I'd write something good that I liked." This is just a fun little poem I wrote minutes after the previous one. I read it at a Beatnik party several years later and won to award for Worst Poem. It's not a Beat poem at all.
  • Love Gone - Feb 12th '96 - Yeah, it turns out I'm an ass. This is my imagined aftermath after an awkward phone conversation. epilogue: we're still friends :-) (The lack of caps, beyond being a period convention is intentional)
  • never.txt - Spring '94 - same sorta concept as waitress.txt, hoping to stimulate an emotion. This time it all came from a picture. I can't rememeber if it was a real image or something that popped into my head but as soon as it was there, the whole backstory just grew.
  • waitress.txt - September '93 - short little piece I wrote to try and stimulate an emotion. I was waiting at a Perkin's restaurant at 4am for a friend to finish her shift and ...well... coffee and tiredness.
  • night.txt - July '93 - opening of a letter I once wrote
  • poem.txt - two words: High School. It turns out I was an angstful teenager full of rage and emotion, who knew.
